I’m into adventure travel. Over the past few years my favourite spot to explore has been Panama. No, not Panama Florida but the real deal – Panama, Panama. You know, the place with the canal. As I plan my excursions to Panama I find I spend a lot of time digging through blogs to see if I can uncover Panama Hotels where I haven’t stayed yet. As I mentioned previously one of the best spots for uncovering those hidden gems is surfing blogs. The best are mostly personal travel blogs where people have recently been where I want to go. For example, the last time I went to Panama I uncovered a little island hotel in the province of San Blas just by reading someones travel blog. They even had some cool photos which showed the thatched roof huts I would be staying in. I never would have found that cool little Panama Hotel if I hadn’t read that blog. Another online resource I also always surf by is the TripAdvisor site. Although it’s getting better everyday I do find it still tends to have mainly the more popular hotels which are already advertising online.
Based on this I suggest you take the road less travelled when you’re searching online for hotels or planning any other part of your next adventure. The big travel sites may dominate the search engines but it’s those little travel blogs that are going to help you uncover your own hidden gems.
